Can you believe it’s almost July? Nope, neither can we.
We’re back to just one event for this month and we are beyond excited to be able to say that our headliner for our next edition on the 13th of July is going to be the wonderful Mike Falconer!

Originally hailing from Aberdeen, Mike has spent the past 25 years living in the USA. His political and social poetry has morphed into outright protest with his latest collection; “Adversarial Poetry for Verbal Combat” which is also part of a larger audio and visual project. Mike has three other volumes of poetry; Poems of Violence and Lies, in 2022, Working Dog – Poems and Prose, and Unreliable Narrator.
Having started attending shortly after returning to Aberdeen, we’ve been really enjoying the work Mike has brought in every month and we’re so excited to have him headline for us. We’re also hopeful that he’ll have books to sell, so if you’re able to make it along on the 13th and you like what you hear we’d encourage you to buy one off him.
Finally - if you follow our socials, you’ll have recently seen a post where we made a commitment not to use AI.

To reiterate:
“As an event that celebrates creativity and humanity, we feel it would be wrong to use AI to create any promotional or any other material for our events. All posters and logos are based on photographs and hand drawings, with basic text applied to them.
We have never and will never use generative AI as part of what we do.”
We also take a dim view of people bringing AI generated material to perform, in case that wasn’t clear, and we ask that you not do that.
We look forward to seeing you on the 13th - as always, the open mic will be taking sign ups for five minutes’ worth of human authored material. We’re at Gaelic Lane Cafe as usual, and the doors will be at 6:30pm for a 7pm start. As always entry is £5 or £3 for students / unwaged / other concessions.
