Hello again all,
It’s safe to say June was a busy month for us!
We were still on a high from our Light the Blue event at the start of this month when we held our second June event back at our usual haunt. This time we had Ian Spring coming all the way up from Perth to launch his poetry collection ‘Seal Song’. We were so pleased that this event was well attended and we ended up with a pretty full open mic as a result.

As always we got a fab range of poems from our open mic performers, which not only consisted of two first timers but of a couple of regulars we’d not seen for a while. (Most of the photos used here are Hannah’s, apart from a couple which Aron took. We hope to have Dáibhí back taking photos with us in the coming months once his health improves.)

Having just had a stint in hospital, Dáibhí took this month off from the photography side of things, but he was still keen for the open mic.
Michael was one of a couple of performers whom we hadn’t seen in a while, and we were glad to have him back.

Another first for Speakin Weird this month - Sam Steele making not only his first appearance with us of this year, but at a summer edition! He runs a B&B in Inverness so we usually only see him in winter time. We were delighted to have him back after so long.

As always we’d like to thank Ian for coming all the way up to perform for us and all our open mic performers as well as our fab venue, Gaelic Lane Cafe. We will be back there on the 13th of July for our next edition, where we hope to have Mike Falconer headlining.
While we’ve got you - having been creating individual posters for our events for some time now, Aron recently put together a more generic one for more generalised use.
Our new poster, designed by Aron, which you may have already seen appearing around Aberdeen.
We’ve been looking for places to put these up around the city, and while we’ve managed to find a few places willing to take some we’d love to hear suggestions for any that may have passed us by, please get in touch.
